Absentee Ballot Available for November 2 2010 Election

September 26, 2010

Need an absentee ballot for the November 2nd election?
It’s easy to vote absentee!

In Minnesota, citizens are allowed to vote absentee for the following reasons:
  • Absence from your precinct
  • Illness or disability
  • Serving as an election judge in another precinct
  • Religious discipline or observance of religious holiday
  • Eligible emergency declared by the governor or quarantine declared by the federal or state government

You can get an absentee ballot in person or by mail. {click here if you need registration information.}

To apply for an absentee ballot in person, go to a Dakota County Service Center:

One of the following locations:
  • Dakota County Administration Center, 1590 Highway 55, Hastings
  • Northern Service Center, 1 Mendota Road West, West St. Paul
  • Western Service Center, 14955 Galaxie Avenue, Apple Valley

You can also go to these city offices:
  • Eagan City Hall, 3830 Pilot Knob Rd or call 651-675-5000
  • Burnsville City Hall, 100 Civic Center Parkway or call 952-895-4400 or 952-895-4460

You may also cast your absentee ballot in person from September 17th until November 1st. This option is available on weekdays during business hours. In addition, these offices will be open for absentee balloting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 30th, and until 5 p.m. on the day before the election.

To apply for an absentee ballot by mail, go to http://www.sos.state.mn.us/ and click on "Voting Absentee", then download and fill out an application. Mail or fax the application to one of the above service centers.

Not registered to vote? You can register at the same time you apply for an absentee ballot. Included with your absentee ballot materials will be a voter registration application allowing you to register and vote. The completed voter registration application must be returned with your voted ballot. (Also see the registration information links on the right side of this screen!)
